SYSTEM

A system is a device which transforms an input signal (also known as excitation) into an output signal (also known as response).

➜ System as an Arrangement of Subsystems:
System can also be viewed as an arrangement of subsystems or elements or components, which are connected together to achieve an objective. For example, a TV system is an arrangement of tuners, amplifiers, etc. to achieve an objective of education, entertainment, communication, etc.

➜ Computer System:
Computer system is an arrangement of subsystems like input, output, memory and processing devices.

➜ Communication System:
Communication system is an arrangement of transmitter, channel and receiver.

➜ CT System (Continuous-Time System):
Associated signals are continuous.

➜ DT System (Discrete-Time System):
Associated signals are discrete.

➜ Hybrid System:
A system involving both continuous-time and discrete-time signals.
